In 2023, Australia’s tourism sector made clear progress towards sustainable growth, achieving an expansion of the visitor economy to $170 billion, a 19% increase from the previous year. Significant strides were made in integrating sustainable practices throughout the visitor economy.

The economic benefits generated by this growth were widely distributed across regional communities and positively influenced various sectors, including agriculture, wine, retail, education, real estate, and transport.

We collaborated closely with our tourism industry to maximize these opportunities for the benefit of our nation.
